Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, totally worn out and screaming,
"WOO HOO, what a ride!"

Mailbox Monday

Mailbox Monday at The Printed Page (this month at She Reads and Reads) is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came into their house last week (checked out library books don’t count, eBooks & audio books do). Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists.

I can't believe it's October already! Summer went much too fast and I barely remember September. I hope the upcoming winter goes by just as quick. Quicker. We have many cold, snowy months here and it's not my favorite time of year. Fortunately, I have a cozy fireplace and piles of good books just waiting to be read. And even more reviews to post!

Big Nate Strikes Again
by Lincoln Peirce

For review from HarperCollins Children

Big Nate will surpass all others!

But it wont be easy. He's stuck with Gina, his all time enemy, who just might ruin everything!

Will Nate win or lose? Pass or fail? Or end up in detention . . . again?

by Ally Condie

For review from Penguin

In the Society, Officials decide. Who you love. Where you work. When you die.

Cassia has always trusted their choices. It’s barely any price to pay for a long life, the perfect job, the ideal mate. So when her best friend appears on the Matching screen, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is the one . . . until she sees another face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black. Now Cassia is faced with impossible choices: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she’s known and a path no one else has ever dared follow—between perfection and passion.

Matched is a story for right now and storytelling with the resonance of a classic.

  1. Sitting by the fire reading is always a delight! Enjoy your books :)

  2. I love reading by my fireplace, but I live in Phoenix, so I don't have it going all that often! Happy reading!

  3. I just read Big Nate Strikes Again and I absolutely loved it! I want to go back and read the first book.

  4. Sitting by the fireplace sounds delightful. I'll have to settle for a cup of hot chocolate though.

    I got Matched, too.

  5. I'm so ready for fall. And a fireplace, a book and cup of cocoa is my idea of a great day! Enjoy!!

  6. Winter is a good time to curl up and read. Why doesn't winter go by as fast as summer? Summer just flies by! The Nate book looks very cute!

  7. Big Nat Strikes Again looks adorable!

  8. Reading by the fireplace sounds dreamy! (although not feasible for me most of the year)

I look forward to your review of matched.

    My MM is here:

  9. My daughter can't wait for the new Big Nate book. She absolutely loved the first one. Enjoy!
