Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, totally worn out and screaming,
"WOO HOO, what a ride!"

We enjoyed some great days at the lake last week. We still couldn't get everyone there but we got as many together as possible. Now that the kids are getting older and most of them have jobs, it's hard to find a week when they can all take time off. For those of us who could get there (and I was there the entire time!) it was terrific to reconnect, bond and eventually start bugging the crap out of each other. Ah, family...

My oldest son with his baby boy, who loves to suck on corn cobs!
My mom with her two great-grandchildren and new puppy
Nephews fishing from the dock
Full moon rising over the lake
Final evening, relaxing at the dock

  1. Wow -- I also enjoyed some wonderful days at the lake last week. I was swimming in a lake, the depth of which was over 800 feet, according to our boat's depth-finder. It was so relaxing and nice. And mountains all around!
I love all these pics, but especially the fishing one -- oh, it brings back memories. When I was kid, NOTHING was more fun than fishing!

    1. Wow! That must be a huge lake! This was 160 feet deep, man-made (originally to generate electrical power at the dam) but big enough to enjoy. hope you had a great time!

I loved to fish as a kid too. That was always special time with my grandpa. My hubby still loves it and is teaching the little ones how to do it as well!

    1. Isn't it funny to watch? My grandson twists his arm and makes it look so difficult but he's happy! He's covered with butter and corn bits but always has a smile on his little face!

  10. Just gazing at your photos takes me back to family days at the lake...it's been eons since we all got together, what with one living in Europe and another only a few hours away, but busy all the time.

Here are some shots of some of my family touring England and France: MY SATURDAY SNAPSHOT POST

    1. I can't imagine having one of my kids as far away as Europe! It would be terrific to go visit them there but I would never be able to leave. Wouldn't they just love that? :D

  16. That looks like a fantastic vacation with family! It is wonderful to be able to spend so much time with family members that you start to drive each other a little nuts - sounds exactly like my family gatherings. ;)

    1. I don't think it would be normal if we didn't bug each other. That's why we only did 4 days and not longer. We didn't want it to get worse than "a little" nuts!
