I had to post some photos from our trip to the lake last week. It was four days of wonderful! This is our little cabin. It wasn't fancy but it was charming with personality. It was just right. We didn't have to bring anything except food and our clothes. This place had everything you could think of for a pleasant stay.
This is the view from the side of the front porch. We didn't have much of a yard but there were plenty of seats, two picnic tables, lounge chairs, a fire pit outside and a fireplace inside. You wouldn't think you would need those in August but it was very chilly and we had small fires each night. It was also great for Smores!
The lake was just over the bank. We had to walk down a few stairs but it wasn't bad. Isn't it beautiful? And since it was during the week there weren't many people and it was pretty quiet.
This is my hubby helping my youngest nephew fish from the dock. They were so cute to watch. My hubby would cast the line into the water and then hand the pole forward to my nephew. My nephew would slowly reel it in and hand it back to my hubby. Then they would start the whole process over again. They must have done this for an hour! No fish, but they had fun.
We even had a canoe to use and we were in it all the time. Too bad we couldn't paddle fast enough to pull a water skier! At one point we had four dogs with us but my mom's dog was the only one who stayed the whole time. He's a huge golden retriever and a big chicken. We did get him into the boat though. This is my youngest and middle sons paddling and my mom in the middle with her dog.
My mom and sister-in-law got in on the fun with the squirt guns. We put them away before the little kids got them!
We didn't have cable or internet access but we did have a signal for our cell phones. That was all we needed and I loved it! I was very shocked to read the paper later and see how much we had missed in just four days. I didn't get to read nearly as much as I planned to. I took three books and a stack of magazines and didn't even finish one of them. I didn't mind though because we had beautiful weather (for a change) and had so much fun in the water, playing games and cards, putting together a jigsaw puzzle and just talking late into the night. My mom, her dog, my hubby and I were the only ones who stayed the whole time but my three boys, a girlfriend, my two brothers and their families were all there at some point. We had 8 kids, 6 adults and 4 canines share the cabin and I can't wait to do it again! Hopefully a new tradition has been born.

ReplyDeleteThe poor doggy looks very nervous riding in the canoe. I'd be afraid my Golden would tip the boat over trying to jump in!
