Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, totally worn out and screaming,
"WOO HOO, what a ride!"

Going to the lake!

For the first time since we were kids, my mom, brothers and their families are all going with us to the lake for 4 days! Woo hoo!! We've been trying to do this for years and finally snagged a small, rustic cabin in the woods on the lake to rent. It's not much but it's a start. It's furnished, we have appliances, a boat dock and a canoe. There's no internet or TV but we do get cell phone reception. We're loading up the fishing poles, decks of cards, board games, books and more books! I know that the kids will get bored, the dogs will be a pain, we'll get on each others nerves and it will rain just like it has for the whole summer so far but I don't care. It's a vacation! And it's only 45 minutes from our home so we can return anytime we need to. I'll miss you all but I'll be back in 4 days... or so!

  2. At least you'll be close enough to home if you need to make an emergency book run! Enjoy every minute. I'll be praying to the sun gods for you.
