Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, totally worn out and screaming,
"WOO HOO, what a ride!"

Birthday Contest!

This is my birthday week so I'm giving presents! I hope there are a lot of mystery fans out there because this is for two James Patterson books, Run For Your Life and The 8th Confession. I can't wait to read these! Patterson books are always a quick read with lots of twists and turns. The perfect book to take to my hammock!

Run For Your Life also by Michael Ledwidge
A calculating killer who calls himself The Teacher is taking on New York City, killing the powerful, the arrogant, the don't-give-a-darnst-about-anyone rich. For some New Yorkers it seems that the rich were getting what they deserve at last. For New York's social elite, it is a call to chaos and terror. The Teacher's message to the wealthy is clear: remember your manners or suffer the consequences! Detective Mike Bennett is assigned the case. Managing the pressure from his Commissioner, the Mayor, and the New York media would be enough for anyone, but Mike also has to care for his 10 children-who are all under 12 and who all have the flu! Detective Bennett discovers a secret pattern in the Teacher's lessons-and realizes he has just hours to save New York from the greatest disaster in its history. From the #1 bestselling author who introduced readers to Alex Cross and the Women's Murder Club-comes the continuation of his newest, electrifying series. Run for Your Life is his most heart-stopping thriller yet. (from Hatchette Books)

The 8th Confession (The Women's Murder Club)
also by Maxine Paetro
When a preacher with a message of hope for the homeless is found brutally executed, reporter Cindy Thomas knows the story could be huge. Probing deeper into the victim's history, she discovers he may not have been as saintly as everyone thought... Rich, beautiful, and powerful, Isa and Ethan Bailey were living in the spotlight as San Francisco's perfect couple--until they are found dead in their luxurious home. As the hunt for two criminals tests the skills of the entire Women's Murder Club, sparks begin to fly between Detective Lindsay Boxer and her partner, Rich Conklin, making it difficult to stay focused on the case. The electrifying new chapter in the Women's Murder Club series, THE 8TH CONFESSION serves up the mile-a-minute twists that only James Patterson can deliver. (from Hatchette Books)

  2. Happy Birthday! What a fun way to celebrate! I love James Patterson!

Birthdays in my house have to have a round two-layered birthday cake that is homemade by me. No store bought, no ice cream cakes, no cupcakes, no square or rectangle shapes...I know it's funny but it's true.

  9. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEBBIE!!!

I LOVE JAMES PATTERSON'S WORK, AND HAVE BEEN COLLECTING AND READING THEM FOR QUITE A FEW YEARS. Also am a member of the JP Community.

IF THIS IS AN ENTRY TO YOUR CONTEST, COUNT ME IN.

The Greastest birthday present I have ever received in my entire life was three years ago. My Godson Moises presented me with my German Shepherd puppy, named Rico der Hunter III. He just turned three in March (my birthday is September, so he was six months old when I got him. He now weighs 98 pounds and still growing.)

    ENJOY YOUR BIRTHDAY WEEK!

    Regards,
    Michael Phelps

My favorite birthday tradition is having my mom make one of my favorite dinners for my birthday. (I'm lucky that still happens--my parents live a mile away!) One of my most memorable gifts was when I got my first bike :-)

  16. Favorite Birthday gift? I once wrote a post highlighting my life in a few paragraphs titled, "The Tree In the Middle of Nowhere".

I had forgotten all about it until a friend of mine sent a copy of my words to me and a pendent with an Oak tree with the moon in silhouette. It was perfect and so thoughtful, I had tears running down my face. The fact she remembered that story was gift enough.

    Thanks for the opportunity! Indigo

One of my favorite birthday gifts was the tailless cat my daughter gave me. She looks like a raked car without her tail but she is the most endearing cat ever.

  20. Happy Birthday! I would love to win either one of these books - my favorite birthday gift was probably a set of The Bobsey Twin books that I received when I was young. We didn't have a lot of money and my mom was able to find about 15 of the books at a sale! I was so excited!

Since I'd like this for her the gift she would get aside from presents is giant cards the bigger the better. So big they were as tall as me when I was little. 35. Happy Birthday!

We don't really make a big deal out of birthdays in my family, but the best TWO gifts I've gotten were both necklaces. One was a gold cross, and the other is a silver heart that says "My Daughter, My Joy" on the back. Both from my mother.

  37. First of all, Happy Birthday! I hope it's a wonderful one!

As far as birthday traditions -- when I was a kid my grandmother (who raised me) also made sure that on my birthday day I would wake up to a small present waiting on my bed. So that the first thing I saw when I woke up was a gift :-) I do that with my kids now also!

    Thanks for the cool giveaway.

One year he wanted a Tomato Soup Cake and another year he wanted a Turtle cake (with chocolate, nuts, caramel etc.)But I always find a recipe and make it.
